Shimora Rika&Me Pinot Noir 2023

$30.00

Tasting Notes:
The Rika & Me Pinot Noir is pretty and detailed while showcasing the cooler season with wafts of dark cherry and plum topped by hints of spice, with dusty forest floor tones in the background. Soft tannins and a gentle bite of lacy acidity underlie finely tuned flavours of red and black fruits, particularly hawthorn berry, before delivering a long, fine finish.

Winemaking:
Grapes were sourced from the Oak Tree vineyard at Dixons Creek in the Yarra Valley. Juice was fermented in stainless steel fermenters with 18 days on skins and then pressed and rested in tank overnight ahead of transfer to barrel (20% new oak 500L puncheons with the balance in second and third use puncheon and barriques). Full malolactic ferment and then rested in barrel for 11 months before blending and bottling at 13.7% alcohol.

Reviews:
“Bright, medium-light red tinged with purple; there are sweet cherry bonbon and cherry eau-de-vie aromas, appealing aromatic fruit driving the wine, while the palate is light-bodied and quite intense with a firm sheen of tannins providing backbone. A tensioned, drying finish that would team well with food, especially duck. 90 Points” Huon Hooke
