Tasting Notes:
The 2023 Rika & Me Chardonnay has a Mâcon feel to it with a rolling lattice of white flower and white peach aromas punctuated by savoury tones of cashew, dried field hay and pasture after rain with a hint of old oak. Flavours of ripe grapefruit flesh and rind follow while creamy acidity drives a long, streamlined finish.
Winemaking:
Grapes were sourced from Steels Creek, Yarra Valley, and harvested 14 March. Juice was settled overnight after pressing and then racked to barrel, all 500L puncheons, 20% of which were new, with the remainder in second and third use puncheons. It underwent a full malo-lactic ferment and was then rested in barrel for 11 months before bottling on 23 April 2024 with 12.3% alcohol.
